2. Non-Medical Nature of Services
Unless expressly provided through an appropriately licensed entity or professional, Unique Star Home Care Solutions provides non-medical home care services.
Our homemaker-companion caregivers do not provide medical or nursing services, including diagnosing medical conditions, prescribing medications, administering medications or injections, performing physical therapy, taking blood pressure as a medical service, providing wound care, or performing other services requiring professional healthcare licensure.
Clients requiring medical or skilled nursing services should obtain those services from an appropriately licensed healthcare provider.
3. Client Assessment and Service Plan
Before services begin, we may conduct an assessment to understand the client’s needs, preferences, routines, home environment, and requested assistance.
Where required, a written Client Service Agreement or Service Plan will be provided describing matters such as:
-
Services to be provided

Service schedule

Duration or term of services

Applicable fees and costs

Clients and/or their authorized representatives are responsible for reviewing the agreement carefully and providing accurate information.
4. Changes in Client Needs
Clients and their representatives should promptly notify Unique Star Home Care Solutions about significant changes that may affect the safe or appropriate provision of services.
This may include significant changes in:
-
Mobility

Medication routines

Behaviour or cognitive condition
-
Living arrangements
-
Assistance requirements
-
Safety risks
-
Emergency contacts
Where a client’s needs exceed the services we are authorized or equipped to provide, we may recommend that the client contact an appropriate healthcare or other professional provider.
5. Medication Reminders
Where included in the client’s service plan and legally permitted, caregivers may remind clients that it is time to take their medication.
Medication reminders do not constitute medical advice or medication administration.
Caregivers providing non-medical homemaker-companion services will not administer medication, prescribe medication, change dosages, provide injections, or independently make medication-related medical decisions.
Questions concerning medication should be directed to an appropriately licensed healthcare professional.
6. Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support
Our Alzheimer’s and dementia services are intended to provide non-medical support, companionship, supervision, assistance with daily routines, and other permitted services.
These services do not replace medical diagnosis, treatment, skilled nursing care, or professional mental or behavioral healthcare.
7. Caregiver Assignment
We aim to provide reliable and consistent caregivers whenever reasonably possible.
However, we cannot guarantee that the same caregiver will always be available.
Illness, leave, emergencies, scheduling conflicts, changes in client needs, or other circumstances may require us to assign a different suitable caregiver.
8. Scheduling
Services may be arranged on an hourly, daily, overnight, live-in, temporary, or recurring basis depending on availability and the client’s service agreement.
Schedules should be agreed upon before services begin.
Requests for additional hours or schedule changes are subject to caregiver availability and may result in additional charges.
9. Live-in Care
Live-in care does not necessarily mean that a caregiver continuously performs active duties for 24 consecutive hours.
Caregiver working periods, sleep periods, meal periods, breaks, responsibilities, accommodations, and other conditions will be established according to the applicable service agreement and applicable employment and other laws.
10. Overnight Care
Overnight care may provide supervision and agreed assistance during nighttime hours.
The specific responsibilities of an overnight caregiver will be identified in the client’s service plan.
11. Fees and Payment
Service rates, billing schedules, deposits, payment methods, and other applicable charges will be communicated to clients before services commence and/or included in the Client Service Agreement.
Clients or their financially responsible representatives agree to pay charges according to the applicable agreement.
Changes to service schedules or levels of assistance may result in changes to fees.
12. Insurance Coverage
Clients are responsible for confirming whether services provided by Unique Star Home Care Solutions are covered by private insurance, long-term care insurance, government benefits, or another third-party payer.
We do not guarantee that services will be covered or reimbursed by any insurer or third party unless expressly agreed otherwise.
13. Cancellations
Cancellation requirements, minimum notice periods, and applicable cancellation charges will be specified in the Client Service Agreement or applicable cancellation policy.
Clients should notify us as soon as possible when scheduled services need to be cancelled or changed.
14. Client Responsibilities
Clients and their representatives agree to:
-
Provide accurate information relevant to services.

Any action taken will be subject to applicable contractual and legal obligations.
16. Emergencies
Unique Star Home Care Solutions is not an emergency medical service.
For medical or life-threatening emergencies, call 911.
If an emergency occurs while a caregiver is present, the caregiver may take reasonable action consistent with agency procedures, including contacting 911, the client’s emergency contact, agency management, or other appropriate persons.
